Text of Disclosure and Explicit Consent Regarding the Processing of Personal Data in SUNUM:
Various personal data belonging to Sabancı University Nanotechnology Research and Application Center (SUNUM) stakeholders are processed by SUNUM, which operates within the framework of Law No. 6550 on Supporting Research Infrastructures, in its capacity as data controller, in accordance with the Personal Data Protection Law (PDPL) numbered 6698. The purpose, mode and transfer status of personal data are explained below.
Purpose of processing your personal data:
SUNUM, which is a Research Infrastructure, basically collects and processes personal data in line with scientific research activities in line with its operating purposes. In the processing of personal data, the conditions specified in Articles 5 and 6 of the PDPL are complied with, considering the personal rights and freedoms stipulated in the constitution, personal privacy, compliance with the law, respect for individual values/preferences and, where necessary, benefit of the person, subject to the consent of the person.
In this context;
SUNUM's related units and their assigned employees collect and process personal data in order to maintain SUNUM's research activities, track success, and keep records required by the legislation regarding research infrastructures. Personal data about SUNUM, its employees and employees of subcontractors providing services are collected and processed in line with SUNUM’s activity purposes.
Personal data is processed in order to meet the vital needs of employees residing in places such as residences, social facilities, etc. on the campuses of Sabancı University, where SUNUM is located and short-term visitors. Personal data is processed about visitors who are temporarily on the SUNUM campus in order to ensure a safe life.
Personal data is processed about the participants of all kinds of events, development programs, conferences, workshops and meetings organized at SUNUM for the purpose of providing scientific and social interaction and development. In order to protect SUNUM's scientific heritage, all information resources that emerge as a result of interaction with the identity of the institution are collected, protected, organized by SUNUM and processed in order to support SUNUM's research and scientific cooperation studies and social, cultural and academic activities of SUNUM. Personal data is processed by obtaining the consent of the relevant persons in order to promote SUNUM in its fields of activity and to reach suitable candidates, researchers, employees and lecturers.
Transfer of your personal data:
SUNUM may share your personal data for the following purposes, as specified in Articles 8 and 9 of the PDPL, in line with its scientific research objectives.
Personal information can be shared to the extent and at the time required by the activities within the framework of contracts concluded with subcontractors providing permanent or temporary services within SUNUM, as well as with third parties. In the sharing of personal data, contracts are concluded by considering the rights of individuals and providing commercial and legal security.
Personal data of SUNUM stakeholders can be shared to the necessary extent and during the necessary period of time, by obtaining the consent of the people when necessary in the framework of training and research collaborations, training programs, personnel exchanges, countries and country representations of foreign employees, joint events, etc., developed with similar institutions operating abroad in line with SUNUM’s targets.

Your personal data is collected through various methods, whether in written or electronic form, through our institutional websites, email or other means, or during applications for various academic, scientific or administrative purposes.
Your rights as a data subject:
In Article 11 of the PDPL, the rights of data owners over their own information are described. In this context, physical persons whose data is processed within SUNUM have the right to obtain information about whether the personal data is processed, the content of the processed personal data and the purpose of processing, the sharing status of the information in the country or abroad, to request deletion and/or update for the data for which the reason for processing has disappeared, and to object to the transactions that are found to result against the person.

No:27/1 34956 Tuzla, İstanbul, or by electronically-signed secure email to sunum@hs01.kep.tr. Please include your identity, contact information and mailing address for us to take proper action. You will be notified of the outcome within 30 days free of charge. If your request creates an additional cost, a fee may be collected in accordance with the tariffs imposed by the Personal Data Protection Board.
